Description

A slightly smaller tree then the Alnus glutinosa, this is a very hardy tree with slightly cone-shaped habit when young. Alnus incana has grey, pitted bark when established and is a superb tree for use as a shelter belt in exposed areas.

  • Position: Full sun or partial shade.
  • Soil: Any fertile soil. Alnus incana grows well in damp or wet sites.
  • Hardiness: Hardy.
  • Rate of Growth: Vigorous.
  • Habit: Medium sized, conical branching tree.
    • Height: 18 m (60 ft).
    • Spread: 6 m (20 ft).
  • Notes: Available to order from November to February only.
  • Size: 40 - 60 cm tall bare root plants.
