Description
Named after Alfred Rehder who first raised it in 1879,
Pterocarya x
rehderiana is somewhat similar to
Pterocarya fraxinifolia in appearance, but with more finely divided leaves (and more leaflets). The leaves are lush green in spring / summer, turning butter yellow before falling in autumn. Like the other wingnuts, this has spectacular, drooping catkins when established in late summer. Hardier and slightly faster growing than either of its parents,
Pterocarya x
rehderiana grows to be a majestic garden tree.
