Rare in the United Kingdom, this is a small semi-evergreen tree closely related to Magnolia which has long, dark green, glossy leaves and creamy white tinged pink or dark pink flowers. The flowers of Manglietia insignis can take a number of years to appear but are well worth the wait.
Requires a very warm, sheltered garden or can be grown as a conservatory plant if moved inside in the winter.

Manglietia insignis is usually best grown by keen gardeners who are prepared give it significant protection it in the winter or by people in warm, reliably mild parts of the United Kingdom which do not experience cold winters.
