Description
Native to the western United States,
Garrya elliptica is a magnificent, evergreen shrub, famous for its long (up to 25 - 30 cm), trailing, grey-green catkins in late winter and early spring. These delightful catkins make give a fantastic winter display and is particularly beautiful when grown against a wall or fence, as this helps give the plant height and shape. Although often planted to fill shady areas, for example against north facing walls,
Garrya elliptica makes an even better specimen shrub in a sunny site!
