Description
A nearly thornless native to China, this has dark green leaves which turn a fantastic, crimson red in a good crisp autumn. Despite the variety name,
Crataegus pinnatifida var.
major 'Big Golden Star' has clusters of white flowers in late spring which are followed by ornamental, edible, red fruit (not gold) which are nearly as large as crab apples. A superb fruiting hawthorn once established!
