Description

An unusual, deciduous hawthorn with lovely flowers which is native to parts of Canada and North America, from Quebec to North Carolina and west into Minnesota. Crataegus crus-galli var. inermis has masses of creamy-white flowers in early summer, followed by large clusters of deep-red fruit in autumn. The leaves are rounded and dark, glossy green in spring and summer before showing golden red and orange tints to the leaves in autumn before falling. This makes a fine, small ornamental that is suitable for most gardens and woodland areas.
