Description
A handsome shrub which has a splendid display of creamy yellow catkins in late winter or early spring. The catkins are followed by attractive, soft-yellow/golden leaves. These golden leaves are particularly pretty when viewed against a dark backdrop or another, purple hazel. In our own arboretum we have planted this
Corylus avellana 'Aurea' planted close to a
Corylus colurna 'Te Terra Red' and the two together give a brilliant, contrasting display of foliage colour in late spring.
