Description

Particularly desirable selection of Aesculus indica which was first selected by Sidney Pearce, the Assistant Curator at the Kew Royal Botanic Gardens, in 1935. Masses of very upright panicles of long, white, suffused-pink flowers with yellow markings in midsummer. An unusual and majestic flowering tree!

  • Rate of Growth: Moderate.
  • Habit: Eventually a large tree with a rounded crown.
    • Height: 20 m (65 ft)
    • Spread: 15 m (50 ft)
  • Notes: We have a specimen of Aesculus indica 'Sidney Pearce', planted in the woodland garden surrounding our nursery. It is 12 years old, has reached a height of 3 - 4 m, a spread of 3 m and is shown in the photos below.
