Features

- Soil: Well drained, fertile soil. Acer palmatum 'Bloodgood' will produce stronger autumn colours in a slightly acid soil.
- Hardiness: Hardy. Acer palmatum 'Bloodgood' requires shelter from strong winter winds.
- Rate of Growth: Moderate.
- Habit: Eventually an elegant large, reasonably upright, branching shrub.
- Height: up to 5 m (16 ft)
- Spread: 4 m (13 ft)
- Notes: We have a specimen of Acer palmatum 'Bloodgood' , planted in the woodland garden surrounding our nursery. It is 12 years old, has reached a height of 2.5 - 3 m, a spread of 2 m and is shown in the photos below. This plant is an improved selection of Acer palmatum 'Atropurpureum'
