Description
A large deciduous tree,
Castanea sativa 'Maravel' has creamy white flower spikes in mid-summer, followed by large crops of light brown edible sweet chestnuts. These are traditionally eaten in the winter time either roasted or baked, peeled and eaten with a pinch of salt or used to make stuffing. Majestic nutting tree suitable for larger gardens and woodland areas.
