Description

A new and rare introduction, Sequoiadendron giganteum 'Glaucum Compactum' has steel-blue foliage in winter and chestnut red bark when established. Established plants have a bushy and compact growing habit.

  • Position: Full sun.
  • Soil: Moist or well drained, fertile soil. Sequoiadendron giganteum 'Glaucum Compactum' does not enjoy shallow, chalky soils.
  • Hardiness: Very hardy.
  • Rate of Growth: Slow to moderate.
  • Habit: Eventually a small tree with a bushy, compact habit.
    • Height: 4+ m (13 ft) in the U.K.
    • Spread: 3 m (10 ft).
  • Notes: Sequoiadendron giganteum 'Glaucum Compactum' is a new introduction and the above height and spread are an estimate based on the current growing rate of a young specimen in our woodland gardens.
