A handsome and fast growing tree, Metasequoia glyptostroboides is a deciduous conifer with cinnamon coloured bark and a rich-green, feathery leaves which turn burnt-gold or bronze before falling in autumn.
Discovered in 1941 in Western China, this species has been on earth for many millions of years and the common name, "Dawn Redwood" refers to the dawn of time. An elegant and narrow garden tree, Metasequoia is also a fantastic screening or windbreak tree when planted in rows! (as shown in the third photo).
