Description
Native to parts of Japan and China,
Cryptomeria japonica is an elegant, evergreen tree once established. The leaves are tiny, awl-shaped and lush green in the summer, turning bronze-brown in the winter. The bark of established specimens is reddish-brown and peels in strips. A handsome garden tree best suited to mild and moist areas of the U.K.
