Description
Majestic tree native to South-western North America,
Calocedrus decurrens is a very distinctive, columnar conifer with dark green, aromatic foliage. Visitors to Westonbirt arboretum in Gloucestershire can see a group of these statuesque trees, planted close to each other many years ago but still are not touching. A splendid, very narrow specimen tree.

- Common name: Incense Cedar.
- Position: Full sun.
- Soil: Well drained, fertile soil.
- Hardiness: Hardy.
- Rate of Growth: Slow until established then moderate.
- Habit: Eventually a large tree with a narrow, upright habit.
- Height: 30 m (98 ft).
- Spread: up to 6 m (20 ft).
- Notes: Calocedrus decurrens is initially slow growing. After one or two years, once established, it starts to grow at a more vigorous rate.
